Culture of Integrity
Three years ago, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, DD, challenged the Catholic faithful in the Philippines to fight the culture of corruption with the culture of integrity. He stressed that we can cultivate this virtue and create this culture by being men and women of our word. We have to walk our talk starting in our families, in our homes and in our schools, he said. On June 24-25, June 30-August 1, and July 7-8, the Service and Leadership Training for the year 2017 was put into motion.
The SALT is an overnight event organized by the Junior High School Student Council Officers which takes part annually. This camp started on the year 2010 by the former principal of DBA Fr. Ben-Hur G. Borja SDB.
The camp caters every student leader both in the elementary and high school department that helps them hone their leadership skills for the upcoming school year.
Each camp featured several games and activities that the students must do and succeed at. The event has stations meant to develop certain values needed by the campers.
This year’s SALT has 4 batches. The first was for the grade 7 and 10 students; second, grade 8 and 9 students; SALT KIDS for the GS pupils and the third was meant for all the club presidents and officers who have not attended the previous camps.
The camp started off with the orientation and presentation of the teams; going to the main activities up to the Social’s Night.
The Social’s night is an activity where each team is going to present their performance on stage. Dances, jokes, songs, and skits are just some of the things that the students have performed.
The first night ended with a Good Night Talk courtesy of the current Rector of DBA, Fr. Jose Armando G. Cortez SDB. Emphasizing three points as nuggets of wisdom to be remembered by the campers as well as the facilitators; FAMILY, MEMORIES and LEADERSHIP.
The activities on the second day are morning exercise, an activity, Holy Mass, and concluded it with an awarding ceremony.
Indeed the leadership training were successful and hoping that the students who participated in the SALT would have gained something positive from the camp; that they will have something to share also to their fellow Bosconians.
