Culture of Integrity
Three years ago, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, DD, challenged the Catholic faithful in the Philippines to fight the culture of corruption with the culture of integrity. He stressed that we can cultivate this virtue and create this culture by being men and women of our word. We have to walk our talk starting in our families, in our homes and in our schools, he said. We can practice this in our DBA family by being true to our word (“palabra de honor”)...

Witnessing a crowd of students in one place, full of cheery laughter, big smiles, and bold faces is a sight to behold. To see them getting ready to embark on a night of formation, camaraderie and values, is something you don't want to miss. As we open a new school year, new challenges await these students, and what do they have in common? They are all trained to become servant-leaders.
Earlier this year, specifically last Aug. 4 and 5 2017, the Junior High School Student Council organized the 7th Kapampangan Youth Leaders' Assembly or otherwise known as K.Y.L.A. VII. It is an annual gathering of students from different schools that aim to furthermore enhance their skills in leadership.
The event started at 5:30 pm opening with the orientation, followed by the groupings and then the classroom assignments. Immediately after was the first activity, in which students were met with rainy clouds and wet grass. Nevertheless, the students enjoyed the activity called "The Floor is Lava".
Further into the night was the main highlight of the event itself which was named the "Escape Race", in which students were stretched to their limits in the activities. This included a lot of mind-buzzing, physical-stretching, and a whole lot more tasks that they were to accomplish in 1 and a half hours. After the Escape Race was the Social's Night, wherein each student-leader showcased their talents in acting, singing, dancing, and portraying.
The following morning included activities that were physical, starting with the morning exercise and then followed by the B.U.S.K.O. challenge, in which they were tasked to complete stations in order to win. The event ended with the Holy Mass, the highlight of the second day, and then they were off to their respective home sweet homes.
As they say, with great power, comes great responsibility. Being a student-leader is never an easy task. It requires a lot of effort, hard work, and perseverance to be able to accomplish what you are supposed to do. Never forget that what you hold, the kind of power within you once you are in a position of leadership, is not something you should be taking for granted. So kudos to all Kapampangan leaders, you have learned to serve right!
